Pedro CostaWho turned the flying designer who turned into the kinetic sculptor, is the founder of insight Costa designStudio integrates highly concept art with mechanical ingenuity. His huge interpretations of iconic watches – such as Royal Oak and NAUTILUS – are not just artistic representations, but are emotionally charged statues, working fully by hand, always in limited versions. From private pens to university salons, Costa’s creations resett the meaning of investment in a timely manner.

In this rare conversation with WealthCosta opens the philosophy of design, creative process, and the future of sculptural luxury.

Transfer to watch sculptures

What originally raised your move from the furniture from the parts of the aircraft to the sculptures of huge watches?

Pedro Costa: Even when we worked to fly, our focus was always on the uniqueness. We have created unique furniture using aircraft parts, ultimately led to a committee for the most distinctive special aviation in Latin America. The big shift came in 2014 when Rick de la Croho – then a major character in LVMH – who designed that hall. It cost a unique piece, and given his relationship with hours, she suggested a carved table inspired by an hour. This is how everything started.

The effect of flying on the design

How did your background in flying and design affect your current aesthetic and technical approach?

Pedro Costa: Greatly. Flying gave me a deep understanding of the integration of complex mechanical systems into beautiful forms. We were already dealing with Planimetry, mechanisms, and engineering accuracy. This made it easier to move to a wide-ranging kinetic art-although it is never “easy”.

From concept to masterpiece

Can you walk through the stages, from concept to the final piece, to build one of your monitoring table sculptures?

Pedro CostaAlways starts with the hour – a piece with which the customer is emotionally associated. We represent it in 3D, expanding its scope, and we start working with minerals, turbines, movements and musical components sometimes. For example, Godfather It took nearly three years to the end. We have developed dedicated mechanical elements, including a music box that plays the subject of the movie.

Creative and engineering challenges

What are the biggest creative and engineering obstacles that you face when expanding a luxury watch for furniture dimensions?

Pedro Costa: Accuracy. You eat something accurate and expand it 60 times, while keeping it a mechanical functional. Godfather It was the most complex – especially tune and triple turbine cylinders. And since no one did this before, we had no reference. We had to invent everything from scratch.

University and influences in the science of luxurious importance

Who is the most distinctive customer that you have, and what made them special?

Pedro CostaRick de la Croix will be always important – he believed in seeing from the first day. Another unforgettable moment was Jean -Claude Bever, who stood smiling next to one of our pieces and described it as a “statue.” This means everything. We have also created pieces of the King of Morocco, the Al Thani family, and many of the highest levels of the highest level in Russia and Asia.

How did you cooperate with major personalities such as Rick de la Crohn and agrees from the stars such as Jean -Claude Bever formed the path of your brand?

Pedro Costa: They have given us credibility in the world of Haute Horlogerie. Jean -Claude Bever once told me, “Pedro, what you do is sculptures.” That re -defined my own language about what we create. These relationships opened the doors and confirmed that we were doing a really original thing.

Balance of Art and Mechanics

Your creations are statues and functional watches. How to balance the aesthetic intention with mechanical accuracy?

Pedro Costa: We grant university selection. Some prefer a purely visual piece, while dangerous watches – especially – over movement. We have developed internal mechanisms in cooperation with Swiss Studio Art Edge and the German factory. For us, art and mechanics must coexist.

Beyond monitoring sculptures

Any plans to expand the surveillance sculptures – perhaps motor facilities or other hybrid artworks?

Pedro Costa: Yes. We have launched a mechanical lamp with seven -day switches and saved faces. We are working on conceptual coffee machines inspired by racing engines – everything with brand sound. These will also be limited versions. The idea is to continue combining art with movement and passion.

Deduction and difficult luxury

Your brand also acquires demand, how do you maintain uniqueness in view of the limited production?

Pedro Costa: Uniqueness is not negotiable. We only issue limited versions. We have made a moisturizer inspired by oak and carved roulette-the more limited production. We will never become a factory of 100 pieces. As Louis Ghusargata, sales and marketing manager says, Under luxury is the time – and those who appreciate him are waiting.

Studio

What ethics pays the “difficult luxury” identity in your studio?

Pedro Costa: We believe in the manual manufacture. The machines dominate the luxury of today, but we insist on welding, sculpting and polishing everything at home. I started doing everything myself, and today we have approximately 40 team members – including 30 craftsmen via Bogota, Mexico and Switzerland. It is not the smartest financial decision, but it is an artistic fact.

The emotional influence of the plural enthusiasts

What do you hope to take from your pieces? What is the emotional response that aims to evoke it?

Pedro Costa: interaction. We want to touch our pieces, admire and use them. Whether this restores the movement or opening a hidden cabin, this polishing communication creates an emotional bond between us and a mosque. This is what we want to leave.

Next 5-10 years

Where do you imagine your artistic journey in 5-10 years?

Pedro CostaI want to develop the Costa design into a wide design studio and art. Like Pininfarina – which started with Ferrari and expanded to a universal design – we want to leave our fingerprints in interiors, lobby sculptures, and beyond. We will always give the letter priorities, but the means will grow.

Just as the basic craftsman in your studio is, is there a reason or task that exceeds the design on you?

Pedro Costa: Yes. In Costa Design, we are proud to support Place of Hope, a charity based in Florida that provides housing and support for weak children and youth. It is a task we believe in depth, and our commitment to them is personal and continuous.

The most difficult pieces with

Have you ever created a piece that is difficult to leave?

Pedro CostaCertainly. the joker We have made with Constantine Chicin and Godfather With Jacob and his partners, she was incredibly emotional. Years are required to develop these pieces – they are like raising a child. And when they leave the studio, it is sweet and bitter. But this is the beauty of that: to go forward in living a second life with a person who cherishes him.

Favorite choice

What is your favorite watch and why?

Pedro CostaRoyal oak. No hesitation. Not only for aesthetic – it’s what it represents. It was an hour born from a creative rebellion. It was designed by Gérald Genta in one day, as it broke each base of luxury at the time: it was steel, bold, architectural. This jabat inspires everything I do. I like hours not only for their beauty, but for their soul – and the royal oak has the soul. I wear a mine often. Every scratch reminds me of a stage on this trip, from where you and where I am going.
