There are some brilliant builders of electronic commerce websites to choose from. However, the appropriate platform for a business may not be the best for another.
When choosing a website builder, think specifically about the priorities of your store. Do you need a platform that gives access to a specific number of personnel accounts? Or is it a small business owner that seeks the cheapest plan possible?
To help you accelerate your comparison of each platform, we have provided rapid but effective descriptions of eight of the main website builders.
Shop

Shopify is an excellent platform to create an online store.
They offer a free three -day test that we have tried and tested. According to our research, we have shared tips and information on how to start a shopify store and maximize profits.
To start selling in Shopify, you must update a free test to a paid plan. At the time of writing this article, each plan costs only £ 1 per month during the first three months before increasing the complete monthly cost:
- Essential – £ 25 per month for standard analysis reports
- Shopify – £ 65 per month for standard analysis reports and five personnel accounts
- Advanced – £ 344 per month for a custom report constructor and accounts of 15 employees.
The three plans include 10 inventory locations. There is also a 25% discount on each plan if you pay annually.
Wix

An online store is just one of the many types of websites that can build with Wix.
When you join Wix, you can select what type of website you are starting. In addition to an electronic commerce site, there is the option to create a blog, an event site, an online portfolio and more.
Wix does not offer a free test as such. However, they give him the opportunity to recover his money in the first 14 days if he is not happy with the platform.
They have a wide range of plans paid in monthly and annual subscriptions. Here are the monthly comparison costs:
- Light – £ 9 per month for 2 GB storage space and access for two collaborators. It also allows you to use a light marketing suite.
- Center – £ 16 per month for 50 GB storage, access for five collaborators, basic site analysis and the opportunity to accept payments. The marketing suite updates from light to basic.
- Business – £ 25 per month for storage of 100 GB, access for 10 collaborators and sites analysis. Marketing suite becomes a standard level (as opposed to light or basics).
- Business Elite – £ 119 per month for unlimited storage space and access for 15 collaborators. It also offers advanced characteristics for marketing suite, sites analysis and more.
- Enterprise – Contact Wix for an appointment. This plan is aimed at larger companies (such as those with multiple websites) to support their growth.
All these plans have a free domain for a year. To see the complete characteristics of each plan, click on the link below.
Squarespace

Squarespace has fewer plans than Wix, but still offers some excellent features to help him start and expand his online store. For example, they have a variety of tools to help business leaders with things such as SEO, email marketing and logos creation.
It is a very well established platform and has been used by millions to create websites.
At the time of writing, these are the monthly costs of their plans:
- Staff – £ 16 per month for your most basic plan. This includes access to customizable templates, but does not allow you to take payments or access advanced analysis.
- Business – £ 24 per month to access advanced analytics and pay in your domain. In this plan, Squarespace charges a 3% transaction rate for selling physical products, services, digital downloads and gift cards.
- Commerce (basic) – £ 28 per month to remove the transaction rate. It also allows you to access tools to increase sales.
- Commerce (advanced) – £ 43 per month for the same characteristics as the basic trade plan, plus advanced shipment, discount and the opportunity to sell products weekly or monthly.
You can save between 17% and 29% of the cost paying annually instead of monthly, but savings vary according to the plan.
WordPress
Similar to Wix, WordPress allows you to create many types of websites. But if it is an online store you want, your trade plan provides you with all the characteristics you need.
Electronic commerce characteristics are provided by Woocommerce accessories that are automatically installed with the plan.
It is also possible to sell individual products or services in other WordPress plans, but they will not provide all the tools to create and run your online store.
At the time of writing, these are the complete monthly prices of each WordPress plan:
- Staff – $ 9 (∼ £ 7.10) will give it storage of 6 GB and unlimited pages and users. There are also many issues and sources to choose from and you can collect payments with Stripe. However, there is no access to site analysis.
- Premium – $ 18 (∼ £ 14.20) for the same characteristics as the personal plan plus the storage of 13 GB. With this plan, you will obtain an analysis board of in -depth sites plus the ability to take pays by PayPal.
- Business – $ 40 (∼ £ 31.50) provides a storage of 50 GB, all the characteristics of personal plans and premium plus the ability to install accessories.
- Trade – $ 70 (∼ £ 55.20) for all the characteristics of other plans of electronic commerce and optimized accommodation of Woocommerce.
You can save 35 – 55% paying annually.

Compared to other website builders, Weebly has relatively low monthly costs.
They even have a free plan. This could be ideal if you are only configuring your electronic commerce business and you want to adapt to the new store before paying monthly costs.
The free plan includes safety of the secure plug layer (SSL) and the opportunity to add a third -party embedding code. However, it does not allow you to have a personalized domain, so you will not look as professional as a store with a paid plan.
At the time of writing, these are the monthly costs and the key characteristics of the site of each paid plan:
- Staff – For £ 7 per month you can connect the store to a personalized domain.
- Professional – At £ 12 per month, this plan includes a free domain, unlimited storage, advanced site statistics, password protection and the opportunity to eliminate ads for Square (a company that has merged with Weebly).
- Action – By £ 22 per month, you will get access to more characteristics that help you grow the business, such as advanced ideas of electronic commerce, articles reviews, emails of abandoned carts and more.
You can save money on each plan paying annually instead of monthly. For more information about each plan, such as its characteristics of electronic commerce, marketing and support, click on the link below.
